As a first-generation college graduate from rural central Georgia and the son of a factory worker, his life’s work centers on shifting campus cultures toward a student-ready mindset by dismantling reactive structures and replacing them with proactive, equitable systems where every student can thrive. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Ross has specialized in leading complex, multi-departmental operations to elevate the total student experience, specializing in integrating disparate programs into cohesive, high-performing ecosystems that drive institutional retention and make the transition to campus life seamless for families. He is a collaborative strategist who builds authentic teams rooted in shared leadership, strategic precision, and community empowerment, creating brave spaces where staff are inspired to lead. 

A hallmark of his approach is the ability to bridge academic rigor with practical support, a strength demonstrated at the University of Indianapolis where he co-led a cross-functional team to completely reimagine the First-Year Experience. By redesigning the New Student Experience curriculum to incorporate Dr. Saundra McGuire’s metacognitive framework from Teach Yourself How to Learn, he equipped incoming students with critical self-regulation tools that directly improved first-to-second-year retention by 10% in the first year of implementation, blending organizational management with a deeply personal mission to build the student-centered university of tomorrow.
